Grans Villa is run by Janne Gullaksen. She has previously developed popular concepts such as Urdihuset and Bod24. On her team is Sue, who has become something of a local baking celebrity thanks to her delicious skillingsboller, and a handful of servers who know how to create the special atmosphere that Urdihuset and Bod24 are known for.

Grans Villa brings together Bergen’s architectural history and its culinary history.
The villa is located in Jahnebakken, which is named after the German-Norwegian pastry chef Adolph Friedrich Wilhelm Jahn (1811–1897).
Jahn was born in Pomerania, but left a lasting mark on Bergen after he arrived in the city and established himself as a master pastry chef. In 1850, he opened a tavern and ran the Fredrikspris farm in what is now Jahnebakken. Jahn’s pastries and other offerings were met with great enthusiasm in Bergen, and Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson himself was a regular, according to Bergen historian Jo Gjerstad. The leading poet not only had a soft spot for Jahn’s food and drinks. In 1858, he married the pastry chef’s niece and foster daughter, Karoline Reimers.
Adolph Jahn was also a good friend of the Buekorps, and Nygaard’s Battalion in particular benefited from both the drill ground and the beer at Fredrikspris.
Grans Villa was built in 1914 based on designs by architect Einar Oscar Schou. Few people have left such a visible mark on modern Bergen as Schou. He designed both Den Nationale Scene and the Fløi Restaurant, and after the city fire, he won the competition to design Lille Lungegårdsvann and the surrounding area. If it hadn’t been for him, Smålungeren might have ended up being filled in.
The building features elements of both Art Nouveau and Neo-Baroque styles, which are recurring themes in several of Schou's works.
Grans Villa It is named after Johan Gran, who previously owned and lived in the house.
